GLANCE

Beautiful mahogany color and with high viscosity. It has really nice long legs.

NOSE

This was a real treat. I got notes of fresh sweet bread dough, heavy oak, baking spices, vanilla, cinnamon, got a note of freshly polished wood, agave syrup, and slight note of rose syrup (some floral note).

Drop of H2O – Smells more like floral syrup, the vanilla, brown sugars and stoned fruits/raisins becomes more pronounced

TASTE

As I drank this, my tongue was alive with flavors. The mouthfeel is smooth, creaminess, and oily. I got strong notes of baking spice, gingerbread, graham crackers, and raw cookie dough. The oakiness mends well with delicious caramelized brown sugar and delicious marmalade/strawberry jam flavors.

Drop of H2O – Tastes similar to without water but the mouth feel was more silky and smooth

FINISH

The finish is long with two waves or hits of a nice deep Kentucky hugs. I got nice spiciness and crackling of pepper as well.

CLOSING REMARKS

This bourbon punches way above its weight class. For $60 you are getting a lot here, even at $80-90 its a great value. The 2019-2020 year’s barrel proofs of Elijah Craig have been of high quality and tasted great. They end the year on a very high note with the C920. The high amount of corn in the mash bill, 12 years aged and the uncut at barrel proof give you tantalizing rich flavors. After letting it open up, it tastes like you are drinking a banana foster with baking spices and pepper. Even though its at a staggering 132.8 proof, for a person who enjoys bourbon/whiskey it drank way less without losing any flavor. Elijah Craig has really hit it out of the park with this one and for $60 you can’t go wrong with this one. Cheers!
