GLANCE
Clear with deep intensity and polished wood
NOSE
Stewed fruits and fresh sweet herbal notes (hints of menthol). I get fresh blueberries, rasberries and cranberries. The rye aroma nicely intermingles with sweet fruity/herbal aromas. Rye spice enters in late with cinnamon and nutmeg.
PALATE
Initially rye spice hits you right away and dominantly dark chocolate enters in the middle of the palate. Towards the end milk chocolate, dates and raisins arrive. It is mouth-feeling. Dark and light fruits come from all sides in the first few sips such as apricot, plums, strawberries and dried raisins.

FINISH
Medium to long with some complexity. I initially got coffee notes, herbaceous flavors with milk chocolate.
CLOSING REMARKS
Overall I am not disappointed but I was expecting more. After trying the Old Forester Single Barrel – Barrel Strength, which exceeded expectations I was letdown after tasting their rye version. Initially, I was greeted by the rye explosion and all the delicious goodness. This prompted me to go in for another 4th and 5th sip. As I went in for more sips, the flavors I was receiving were all over the place. I started to get more lemon zestiness and black tea flavors with assorted fruits. It was confusing and threw me for a loop but nothing that really made me put my glass down. This encounter is also not something that made me want to pour another dram. Could be the barrel and warehouse I got is just way far from the typical flavor profile or is just unbalanced. Because of this I suggest trying this first before buying. Cheers!
