GLANCE
Clear with a deep brown + copper hue. Medium to deep intensity
NOSE
Nosing the glass shortly after the fresh crack gave way to a very floral and earthy notes + bread being baked in the oven.
After 15 mins – Warm figs with honey drizzled on top. Chocolate covered raisins and stewed berries come through as it opens up. As it continues to open up you get nutmeg, clove and notes of fresh baked fruit pie. Some hints of ground coffee and cocoa.
PALATE
Right of the bat you get the cherries with dried raisins and strawberries, dipped in chocolate. Then instantaneously the rye spice makes an entrance, accompanied with baking spices such as nutmeg, clove and cinnamon. Dark chocolate with clover honey rings loud in the middle of the palate. It is mouth-feeling with medium to high oily/creamy. Pronounced flavor intensity. Back of the palate is earthy and slightly more floral.

FINISH
Dried red fruits, rye spice and burnt cocoa. Hints of honey and graham crackers + hints of mint. Long and complex
CLOSING REMARKS
Ohh yess, was I psyched for this! I have tried the Redwood Empire’s regular offerings but trying them at cask strength is the perfect next step. This is a fantastic expression from Redwood Empire with full of flavors to dig through. The high quantity of rye doesn’t overpower other flavors. The rye spice perfectly complements the other flavors and helps them rise to the palate better. Whiskey/bourbons like this make me questions is it even worth it to go after the allocated products. Cheers!
