CLOSING REMARKS

BevMo being a large retailer the single barrel picks can be a more miss than hit in general. This one was a pleasant bourbon. Not a homerun and not the best SB cask strength from Four Roses I have tried, but a solid offering. The SB cask strength offerings from Four Roses have really risen in price compared to ~4 years ago, when they could be had closer to $60. These days they hover around $120 (taking into account mom & pop liquor store pricing as well). At that price point I am expecting a terrific bourbon, something that makes me feel glad I spent close to or more than a Benjamin on a bottle. This offering from BevMo is worth closer to the price of 4 years ago. The problem was the tannins or stale wood flavors would enter the palate and interrupt the finish. On the palate there is some noticeable dryness and the finish is a letdown for me. Overall this SB CS OBSQ offering from BevMo is a solid bourbon that has some nice flavors and a great nose. Cheers!
