GLANCE
Clear with deep intensity. Rich hue of polished oak
NOSE
Clean with pronounced intensity. Fruity and oak forward nose. I got aromas of Jamun (indian blackberry, black plum), blueberries, rasberry. These aromas grow and slowly turn more tropical fruit in nature. The oak, vanilla and sugars are in the undercurrent that don’t overpower the main aromas. Notes of graham cracker an dark chocolate

PALATE
Moutfilling and silky in texture with pronounced intensity. Medium sweetness overall. I got fruit, light pepper, oak towards the front of the palate. In the middle to the end of the palate there is guava, crisp/custard apple and hazelnut and cashew. There was a floral essence in the beginning as well.
FINISH
Long in length and somewhat complex. Oak, pistachio, cashew and floral.

CLOSING REMARKS
Single Malts from Scotland are generally regarded to be the superior malts. Even today many enthusiasts would tend to lean in this direction. Of course certain malts coming from Japan are really sought after and Japanese whisky is held in high regard. Indian single malts from my experience have been generally left out of the conversation. Its not because of the lack of great Indian single malts. Before Piccadilly Distilleries, Amrut and Paul John have developed some amazing whiskies in their portfolio. Amrut’s coveted single barrel expressions and core lineup are fan favorites. Paul John’s annual Christmas limited edition expression is adored by fans worldwide. Your experience surrounding this could differ but after Piccadilly released this Indri cask strength expression, there is no question that Indian single malts are a force to be reckoned with. Scottish single malts are great and unique in their own sense but they can’t produce the flavors Indian single malts can. Indri Drú Cask Strength once distilled is aged in sherry, wine and bourbon first fill casks. Once maturation is completed, the master blender combines barrels to achieve the final expression. This is a buy no question. The amazing fruitiness, tropical sweetness with delicate spices really elevates this dram to its own arena. Cheers!
