GLANCE

Clear with low medium intensity. Farm straw color

NOSE

Clean and pronounced intensity. Got honey with lemon meringue. More lemon and citrus zest with stoned red fruits entering. Dates and raisins string along in the background. The smokiness is there but not overwhelming and carries the aromas well.

PALATE

Apricot, peach and pear and honey. Lemon zest and orange. Medium viscosity with silky texture. Medium sweetness and watery to mouth filling. There are peppery flavors that begin to come through towards the middle of the palate, Some caramel and toffee. Pronounced flavor intensity. Smokiness again carries the flavors well.

FINISH

Medium to long with complexity. Apricot, peach and pear and raspberry. Lemon meringue with citrus

CLOSING REMARKS

The 2022 Malts Festival LE from Glen Scotia comes at us aged for 7 years in first fill bourbon barrels. This is followed by another year in Pedro Ximénez casks. This was a delightful dram. For a scotch that is in the single year aged statement, there are a lot of flavors to dig through here. This is in a big part due to the cask selection and the choice of casks. As you can tell by the level of the bottle, I have thoroughly enjoyed this spirit! Around 24,000 bottles were produced and they can still be found (At least in California).
