GLANCE

Clear with deep intensity and dark brown color (rich wood)

NOSE

Classic Knob Creek nose with pronounced intensity. As it opens up, some earthy aromas appear. Rich vanilla, caramel, and rich oak. This was accompanied by caramel toffee and espresso aromas. There are stewed fruits (raspberries, blueberries, come through) but in the background with drizzled honey.

PALATE

Off-dry to medium sweetness. Smooth and light to medium flavor intensity. You get oak, nutmeg, maple syrup, peanut shells, caramel, vanilla with general baking spice. Slight oiliness with silky texture. After chewing for some time I was able to extract chocolate, tobacco, pepper and earthy notes.

FINISH

Medium in length with some complexity. Honey, cinnamon with notes of orange marmalade.

CLOSING REMARKS

I would say not my favorite Knob Creek palate. Felt light overall and didn’t punch. I got typical Knob Creek/bourbon flavors so nothing out of the ordinary here., except its a bourbon that has an age statement! Nothing offending here and is an easy sipper. My only dig is that when it compares to their readily available Knob Creek 9 year, there is not much separation. And Knob Creek 9 year is way more readily available for half the price. The extra time in the barrel does refine the flavors and adds some depth but lacks punch and mouthfeel. I do welcome back the age statements and Knob Creek making longer aged bourbon more readily available. Cheers!
