GLANCE
Clear and deep intensity with rich polished wood hue. Appears highly viscous
NOSE
Clean with pronounced intensity. Strong banana notes with butter pecan and maple syrup drizzled over. I got wonderful notes of raisins dipped in sugar cane syrup, and dates with stewed fruits. For the proof the ethanol is barely there. As it opened up, I was also able to pick up on some floral notes
PALATE
Medium sweetness with some dryness. Very mouth-filling and pronounced flavor intensity. I got notes of cherry cola, cinnamon, vanilla, and candy licorice with spiciness as it coats your tongue. It didn’t feel oily. Strong notes of banana and maple syrup.

FINISH
Long with some complexity. I got some clove, cardamon, vanillas and dark chocolate.
CLOSING REMARKS
The elephant in the room, this is a single barrel and the barrel you are able to acquire can be quite different from what I tasted. But overall there is a Old Forester flavor profile that will hold true and that rings through in this single barrel offering. The Old Forester whiskey row series, allows consumers to get a taste of how the product was in the past and how it has transformed. The single barrel cask strength appears to be geared towards the connoisseur, who wants to meet the product in its raw form with all the beauty and flaws. I have heard from others, that various other Old Forester Single Barrels drink way too hot. I was fortunate that mine wasn’t as such. I would suggest letting your bottle breathe a bit and also let the spirit seat in your glass for a few mins before enjoying it. If you are a Old Forester fan + whose palate is accustomed to the proof, this is right up your alley. If you are just getting into bourbon/whiskey, I would stray away from this. Cheers!
